Cycle Couriers Bristol Launched 09/01/2012
We are delighted to confirm that we’re launching an eco-friendly cycle courier service in Bristol with the prospect of 11 jobs initially.
Our parent company, Priority Express Couriers Ltd, has more than 20 years’ experience of parcels delivery, providing nationwide, same-day, overnight and international courier services with more than 120 associated depots across the UK.
The cycle couriers will be an integral part of the existing business, handling anything from letters to a 5kg parcel, delivered within 30 minutes to city centre businesses, and inside an hour up to 3 miles from the City Centre.
Neil Havill, Priority Express Director, said: “The new company will be called cyclecouriers.com and will remain a wholly-owned subsidiary of the parent company. We are committed to reducing our carbon emissions and have been planning to offer a secure, cost-effective, eco-friendly cycle courier service in Bristol for some time.
“In 2008 Bristol was chosen as England’s first cycling city; we are proud to support this status by introducing a professional cycle courier service.”
The company has begun the recruitment process, advertising on its website for a full-time operations controller to oversee a team of up to 10 cycle couriers. Fitness is a must. Typically, couriers could have other jobs or be competitive cyclists, taking on the cycle deliveries to maintain fitness and earn extra income.
Each will carry a Personal Data Assistant (PDA), a hi-tech device which enables bookings to be made quickly and simply on line and deliveries to begin in minutes using the nearest courier. The system is paperless and carbon neutral.
Neil Havill said a basic service would be up and running within a few weeks for existing customers, with an official launch in March 2012.
Priority Express acquired Cardiff Cycle Couriers in 2010. It has 500 clients in the Welsh capital who use the cyclists not only for local deliveries, but also to collect consignments for onward delivery to UK and international destinations using the Priority Express network.
Cardiff clients include the Welsh Government, Cardiff Council, BBC, banks, lawyers, media and marketing companies and financial institutions.
